Job Description
A Senior AI Research Engineer in Visual Perception will work on advancing robot autonomy by evaluating and developing cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and sensing technologies, designing experiments, building prototypes, and contributing to the company's robotics technology roadmap to enable robust and reliable autonomous systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate cutting-edge AI, machine-learning, and sensing technologies for robot perception and planning.
- Assess new technologies and design proof-of-concept experiments.
- Build research prototypes and transfer promising ideas to product teams.
- Shape the technology roadmap and guide long-term strategy for robust and reliable solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in evaluating cutting-edge AI, machine-learning, and sensing technologies from novel perception to advanced planning, with the ability to assess their applicability to real-world deployment challenges.
- Experience in designing proof-of-concept experiments and building research prototypes related to robotics and autonomous systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and partners to assess new technologies and transfer promising ideas to product teams.
- Strong understanding of robot autonomy and intelligence, including perception, planning, and sensing technologies such as camera- and LIDAR-based sensing.
- Experience in shaping technology roadmaps and guiding long-term strategy to ensure solutions are robust, reliable, and impact-ready.
- Hands-on experimentation skills and a research background capable of redefining robotics technology.
- Educational background in a relevant field such as Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines (implied by the research and development focus).
