Job Description
Amazon Web Services is seeking a Power Electronics Reliability Engineer to own the functional-safety case and the reliability/qualification program for the SST control, protection and power-conversion system.
Requirements
- Plan and execute HALT/HASS and other qualification activities identified in the V&V strategy.
- Define reliability stresses and qualification conditions with engineering teams.
- Track qualification status and evidence.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related experience/ field.
- Reliability-engineering experience in power electronics or industrial systems.
- Experience with IEC 61508 and functional-safety development and/or embedded systems and diagnostics experience.
- Experience documenting design decisions, assumptions, trade-offs, risks and technical specifications.
- Experience using engineering analysis and measured evidence demonstrating strong data-driven problem solving.
- Experience demonstrating maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability, serviceability and scalable deployment.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in functional safety (IEC 61508/62061-class) and/or reliability & qualification engineering for electrical/power-electronics systems, including verification.
- Experience with HALT/HASS and failure analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of safe-state behavior, watchdogs, fault-state management, MTBF/MTTR and reliability metrics.
- Experience working with FPGA, controls and embedded-software teams, and coordinating critical component suppliers.
- Demonstrated operating effectively in a greenfield environment where standards and reference designs may require interpretation and adaptation.
