Job Description
Amazon Web Services is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture of the 5-10 MW SST, including enclosure/rack architecture, interfaces, IP protection, vibration and seismic qualification.
Requirements
- Address IP-rating requirements.
- Define and assess vibration and seismic qualification requirements.
- Consider serviceability, accessibility and maintainability in the mechanical design.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of IP rating, vibration and seismic qualification.
- Experience integrating high-power electronics and thermal-management systems.
- Experience documenting design decisions, assumptions, trade-offs, risks and technical specifications.
- Experience using engineering analysis and measured evidence to drive decisions.
- Experience demonstrating maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability, serviceability and scalable deployment.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years leading mechanical design for power/electrical equipment or comparable high-power enclosures.
- Strong mechanical-engineering experience in complex industrial equipment.
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or CATIA V5.
- Demonstrated working effectively with adjacent engineering disciplines and contribute to full A-to-Z product ownership.
- Demonstrated operating effectively in a greenfield environment where standards and reference designs may require interpretation and adaptation.
