Job Description
A Technical Program Manager II responsible for overseeing the delivery and performance of Alarm.com's video streaming infrastructure, including real-time video delivery, cloud modernization, and firmware operations, collaborating with engineering teams to ensure reliable and scalable video services for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end execution of video streaming and infrastructure programs from concept through launch.
- Own the streaming technology roadmap, including connection protocols, proxy infrastructure, adaptive bitrate streaming, and codec modernization.
- Coordinate and deliver cloud infrastructure migration programs and oversee technical implementation.
- Monitor and manage firmware update systems for cameras to ensure safe and timely updates across devices.
- Track system health metrics for customer-impacting services and lead resolution efforts when issues arise.
- Coordinate across multiple engineering teams to ensure program delivery and maintain program health metrics.
- Partner with product managers to translate technical infrastructure investments into business outcomes and prioritize initiatives.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in technical program management, engineering management, or a senior technical individual contributor role shipping infrastructure or media products at scale.
- Deep familiarity with video media technology streaming protocols such as WebRTC, HLS, RTSP, video and audio codecs, or media pipelines.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, including container orchestration, CI/CD, microservices architecture, and load balancing.
- Ability to read and discuss code, architecture diagrams, and system designs with engineers; while not required to write production code, must understand it.
- Track record of managing concurrent programs with competing priorities and cross-functional dependencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting to engineering leadership and translating infrastructure complexity into plain language.
