A Data Center Technician responsible for managing daily data center operations, including hardware setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and network cabling, to ensure optimal performance and uptime in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support daily data center operations, including hardware setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ensure data center infrastructure security, organization, and compliance with industry standards.
Install, maintain, and decommission servers, networking equipment, and power systems.
Conduct hardware inspections, firmware updates, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
Monitor data center capacity, power usage, and cooling efficiency to optimize performance.
Track and maintain server health and inventory records for all physical equipment and spares.
Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper network cables; perform structured cabling and documentation.
Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.
Respond to hardware, network, and environmental service tickets, diagnosing issues and applying updates.
Work in confined, elevated, and noisy environments, supporting on-call and after-hours shifts as needed.
Requirements
5-10 years of hands-on experience in a data center environment.
Strong understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and IT infrastructure.
Experience with Linux CLI and Windows CMD for basic troubleshooting.
Knowledge of firmware updates, BIOS configurations, RAID setups, and virtualization technologies VMware preferred.
Ability to diagnose and repair hardware failures within defined service processes.
Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, installation, and troubleshooting.
Experience with network tools and diagnostic equipment such as Fluke testers, OTDRs, and power meters.
Ability to lift and move up to 70 lbs regularly.
Work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and noisy environments as needed.
Stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods (8 hours per shift).
Climb ladders and stairs while carrying equipment.
Work in a climate-controlled yet variable-temperature environment.
Support on-call, after-hours, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
