Job Description

The Senior Legal Associate will support Akaysha's global renewable energy projects by managing legal, regulatory, and contractual aspects across project development, financing, and operations, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead legal and strategic support for key FID-stage projects, including negotiating project agreements such as offtake, connection, equipment supply, land, and finance documents.
Manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate legal workflows to ensure timely legal inputs aligned with project milestones.
Structure and negotiate complex project and finance agreements, balancing legal risks with commercial and strategic objectives.
Support project financing activities by reviewing and negotiating tripartite agreements and finance instruments, and providing legal due diligence.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations by managing legal approvals and budgets throughout project delivery.
Identify, allocate, and mitigate legal risks across all project phases from development to operations.
Interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks to project structures, operational decisions, and compliance strategies across jurisdictions.
Embed legal governance frameworks into project and corporate workflows to ensure alignment with approvals and obligations.

Requirements

Experience in structuring complex project and finance agreements such as EPC, OEM, offtake, and tripartite agreements that balance legal risk, commercial outcomes, and strategic goals.
Ability to identify, allocate, and mitigate legal risks across all phases of a project from development through to operations.
Proven experience in executing legal components of project finance transactions, including lender negotiations, due diligence, and alignment of finance instruments with project documentation.
Strong understanding of interpreting complex regulatory frameworks and applying them to project structures, operational decisions, and compliance strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
Experience in embedding legal governance frameworks into project and corporate workflows, ensuring alignment with internal approvals and external obligations.
Demonstrated ability to support project financing by reviewing and negotiating tripartite agreements and finance instruments, providing legal input on due diligence and lender requests, and ensuring alignment with project and business objectives.
Experience in managing legal approvals and budgets in line with governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations throughout project delivery.
Ability to coordinate stakeholder relationships and legal workflows to support key project milestones, ensuring timely and aligned legal inputs.
Strong technical expertise in guiding legal processes and providing practical advice across development, construction, and operations phases of projects.
Experience in working closely with internal teams and external contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
Excellent negotiation skills for leading and negotiating high-value project and finance agreements for BESS projects through to execution.
Educational background or equivalent experience in law, with a focus on energy, infrastructure, or related fields (implied but not explicitly stated).
