Job Description

A strategic and business development role focused on leading the commercial activities for large-scale battery energy storage projects in Germany, including market analysis, contract negotiations, stakeholder management, and supporting project delivery to drive growth and support the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout of market strategy and identify new business opportunities in Germany for utility-scale BESS projects
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of offtake and project agreements to secure revenue
  • Develop and execute market strategies by analyzing market trends, competitors, and regulations
  • Build and guide multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery and business growth
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and operations
  • Support procurement processes for technical equipment and manage supply chain risks
  • Conduct risk assessments of project agreements to ensure commercial and operational alignment
  • Utilize CRM and reporting tools to track opportunities, coordinate stakeholder interactions, and visualize market data
  • Ensure compliance with German regulatory frameworks affecting BESS projects

Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of German energy market dynamics, including evolving regulations and funding programs for BESS
  • Proven ability to identify and assess market opportunities and risks relevant to large-scale battery storage projects
  • Ability to provide commercial input on key project agreements as value drivers for financial models
  • Experience supporting investment decisions through analysis of how contract terms impact project economics
  • Track record of negotiating favorable commercial terms for offtake and procurement agreements
  • Skilled in structuring contracts that align with business objectives and risk profiles
  • Experience managing procurement for technical equipment, including long lead battery components, and implementing supplier engagement and risk mitigation strategies
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and identifying gaps across interconnected project agreements to ensure commercial and operational alignment
  • Experience using CRM and RFP tools to track and manage offtake opportunities, coordinate stakeholder interactions, and proposal submissions
  • Proficient in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to visualize and report market and commercial data, and communicate insights to executive stakeholders
  • Strong familiarity with German regulatory frameworks affecting BESS projects and demonstrated experience ensuring compliance in commercial agreements and project execution
  • Ability to lead the development and execution of market strategies for utility-scale BESS projects in Germany by analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes
  • Ability to lead the origination and negotiation of offtake agreements, support contract structuring, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with revenue objectives and commercial strategy
  • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive engagement with potential customers and partners, and conduct commercial negotiations for key project agreements
  • Experience building and guiding multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, supporting recruitment, and professional development initiatives
  • Ability to manage relationships with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to facilitate project approvals, contract execution, and operational success
