Job Description
A strategic and business development role focused on leading the commercial activities for large-scale battery energy storage projects in Germany, including market analysis, negotiations, stakeholder management, and supporting project delivery to drive growth and sustainability in the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute market strategies for utility-scale BESS projects in Germany
- Lead the origination and negotiation of offtake agreements and support contract structuring
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive engagement with potential customers and partners
- Build and guide multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery and business growth
- Manage relationships with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and operational success
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of German energy market dynamics, including evolving regulations and funding programs for BESS.
- Proven ability to identify and assess market opportunities and risks relevant to large-scale battery storage projects.
- Ability to provide commercial input on key project agreements as value drivers for financial models.
- Experience supporting investment decisions through analysis of how contract terms impact project economics.
- Track record of negotiating favorable commercial terms for offtake and procurement agreements.
- Skilled in structuring contracts that align with business objectives and risk profiles.
- Experience managing procurement for technical equipment, including long lead battery components, and implementing supplier engagement and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments and identifying gaps across interconnected project agreements to ensure commercial and operational alignment.
- Experience using CRM and RFP tools to track and manage offtake opportunities, coordinate stakeholder interactions, and proposal submissions.
- Proficient in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to visualize and report market and commercial data, and communicate insights to executive stakeholders.
- Strong familiarity with German regulatory frameworks affecting BESS projects, and experience ensuring compliance in commercial agreements and project execution.
- Ability to build and guide multidisciplinary teams, support recruitment and professional development initiatives, and foster collaboration for project delivery and business growth.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to build relationships with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and contract execution.
