Job Description
A Senior Accountant in Financial Reporting responsible for overseeing complex project financing, ensuring accurate month-end closing, regulatory compliance, and group financial reporting, with a focus on IFRS standards and battery energy storage system projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial accounting and reporting, including month-end close and regulatory compliance
- Review financial statements and coordinate with external auditors
- Manage BESS project, asset, and intercompany accounting throughout all project phases
- Perform consolidation and group financial reporting using Workday
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance reporting, data integrity, and internal controls
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and support finance projects
- Guide junior accountants and collaborate with project managers and commercial teams
- Assist with financial analysis, purchase approvals, and employee expense oversight
Requirements
- Experience in overseeing financial accounting and reporting, including ensuring accurate month-end close, regulatory compliance, financial statement review, external auditor coordination, and proper application of accounting standards.
- Proficiency in BESS project, asset, and intercompany accounting across all phases including cost capitalization, expenditure reconciliation, processing recharges, fixed asset register maintenance, and meeting revenue recognition standards.
- Experience with consolidation and group financial reporting using Workday, including consolidation journals, intercompany eliminations, management and statutory reporting, variance analysis, and timely close.
- Ability to complete period-end accounting processes and maintain accurate, complete, and compliant balance sheet accounts in accordance with accounting standards.
- Knowledge of Australian financial reporting and taxation frameworks governing statutory obligations, lodgments, and regulatory compliance.
- Technical capability in interpreting and applying Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS to financial transactions and reporting outcomes.
- Expertise in accounting principles specific to battery energy storage system projects, including asset lifecycle, capital structures, and intercompany financial arrangements.
- Technical proficiency in financial consolidation functionality within Workday, including group-level data aggregation and elimination structures.
- Ability to develop and maintain accounting policies and support finance projects.
- Experience in guiding junior accountants, collaborating with project managers and commercial teams, and assisting with financial analysis.
- Experience in overseeing purchase approvals and employee expenses.
- The role can be based at Akaysha’s Melbourne HQ or Sydney Office with the option to work in a hybrid capacity, spending time at home and in the office.
