Job Description
A Program Legal Counsel role focused on providing legal compliance, contract review, and project management support for a five-year social enterprise program in Canada, ensuring adherence to Canadian laws and donor requirements while supporting program delivery and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Canadian laws and donor requirements for all program activities
- Review, draft, and manage contracts related to program operations
- Develop and implement internal processes, policies, templates, and checklists to ensure legal compliance and efficiency
- Coordinate with outside counsel and maintain legal guidance documentation
- Provide legal advice to program teams on contractual, regulatory, and compliance issues
- Manage legal aspects of project implementation, including risk management and milestone tracking
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience practicing corporate law and managing legal projects across various stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret Canadian laws and donor requirements, and provide practical guidance to program teams.
- Experience in contract review and drafting for all program activities, including general contract, intellectual property, data privacy, employment, governance, and formation matters.
- Permanently authorized to work in Canada, with a license to practice law.
