Job Description
The role involves managing and developing government partnerships through activities such as proposal development, relationship management, and reporting, to support Acumen's mission of addressing global poverty and climate challenges. It requires cross-functional collaboration, strategic engagement, and representing the organization at external events.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage existing government partnerships and develop new ones to support climate and poverty initiatives.
- Lead proposal development, including writing, budgeting, work planning, and contract negotiations for new funding opportunities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective delivery of grants, including compliance, reporting, and dissemination of outputs.
- Organize and represent Acumen at key events, meetings, and high-level visits with government partners.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder maps and conduct annual assessments of government partnerships.
- Research and identify opportunities for engagement with government audiences through conferences and external events.
- Support fundraising efforts by updating collateral and preparing materials for government partner audiences.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of government partnerships and identify areas for strategic improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in fundraising, account management, or project management, ideally working with bilateral or multilateral donors.
- Grant writing and budgeting experience is essential and will be a core part of the role.
- Proficiency in managing and understanding project level budgets and forecasts.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize and deliver on time.
- Operational skills such as problem solving and project management, including the ability to work and deliver projects independently, proactively, and within deadlines.
- Experience supporting proposal development, including writing, work planning, budget development, responding to due diligence, and contract negotiations for new business development opportunities with government funders.
- Experience in evaluating requests for proposals and supporting tracking the effectiveness of government partnerships.
- Ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally with grant managers, finance, legal, communications, and regional teams to ensure compliance, donor reporting, and dissemination of outputs.
- Experience coordinating with senior leadership, including the Office of the CEO, on engagement with government partners, bilateral, DFI, and multilateral at meetings and events, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder maps for existing government partners, including mapping engagements across multiple geographies and programs.
- Ability to conduct an annual assessment of government partnerships and prepare analysis decks to share partnership strengths and areas of opportunity.
- Experience conducting research on events, conferences, and opportunities for engagement with government audiences, including supporting the creation of conference sessions and representing the organization externally.
- Ability to update fundraising and communication collateral to incorporate new messaging for government partner audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an active member of a team, including participating in cohort meetings and supporting knowledge sharing.
- Authorized to work in the US or UK.
- Physical and operational ability to support high-level event planning, including organizing high-level donor and ministerial visits, events, or requests in coordination with in-country and events teams.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $86,400 - $103,000 plus a performance-based bonus
Work arrangement: Hybrid work in New York or London
