Job Description
The Grants Manager will oversee end-to-end grant management for a large, multi-year donor-funded program supporting social enterprises in Africa, ensuring compliance, financial tracking, reporting, and effective coordination across teams to support program implementation and donor relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end grant processes, ensuring compliance, financial tracking, and timely reporting.
- Coordinate and support program operations, including documentation, milestone tracking, and meeting logistics.
- Oversee financial compliance by reviewing expenses, maintaining budgets, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, including drafting agreements, conducting assessments, and supporting capacity building.
- Lead donor reporting by preparing high-quality narrative and financial reports, monitoring financial performance, and tracking grant disbursements.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience managing complex, grant funded, multi-year projects.
- Direct experience with major international, corporate donors, foundations, and non-profit organizations.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including time and project management, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong project and grant reporting experience with knowledge of systems leading project and grant reporting systems e.g., Salesforce, Asana, etc., and programme management qualifications equivalent to PRINCE2.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse stakeholders across regions and at varying levels of accountabilities.
- Experience in managing and understanding results frameworks, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) systems, logframes, and learning agendas.
- Prior regional, in-country experience working in East and West Africa, preferred.
- Willingness to travel according to grant requirements and work across time zones including US, UK, and Africa.
- Authorized to work in Canada, based in Toronto.
