The Head of Transmission Interconnection Engineering is responsible for leading technical and strategic efforts related to transmission analysis, grid interconnection, and system integration for large-scale solar and energy storage projects, ensuring optimal project siting, compliance, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical and strategic aspects of transmission analysis, grid interconnection, and system integration for large-scale solar PV and BESS projects
Evaluate transmission capacity, grid constraints, and interconnection requirements to optimize project development
Manage interconnection requests with ISOs, RTOs, and utilities, and oversee related studies and compliance
Develop strategies for project siting based on transmission availability and congestion analysis
Review and oversee power flow, short circuit, transient stability, and reactive power studies
Assess system performance, network upgrades, and curtailment risks for solar and hybrid solar storage systems
Support due diligence for M&A and joint ventures by evaluating interconnection risks and opportunities
Present complex grid and transmission topics to executives, investors, and regulatory stakeholders
Develop tools, models, and methodologies for evaluating interconnection and congestion across regions
Oversee external consultants and transmission studies to ensure quality and consistency
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
At least 7 years of experience in power systems, interconnection engineering, or grid planning.
Deep understanding of ISO RTO interconnection processes, such as CAISO, ERCOT, and SPP.
Experience with power systems modeling tools including PSS E, PSCAD, TARA, PowerWorld, or similar.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Proven track record of successful delivery of interconnection applications and execution of large-scale renewable or hybrid projects.
Experience with hybrid systems including PV, BESS, and inverter-based resource modeling.
Experience with utility-scale energy asset management is preferred.
