Job Description
The Licensing and International Trade Compliance Manager at Planet will oversee compliance with international trade regulations, advising on export controls and economic sanctions while collaborating with various teams and external partners. This role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage the full lifecycle of export license applications.
Responsibilities
- •Serve as an Empowered Official for the company and advisor to business teams
- •Advise on international trade compliance requirements and develop strategic compliance plans
- •Interface with U.S. government agencies for trade compliance initiatives
- •Review international trade compliance terms for proposals and contracts
- •Draft and prepare filings for government agencies, including license applications
- •Manage the full lifecycle of export license applications and license management
- •Develop and update licensing templates and guidance
- •Conduct export classification reviews and track new technology developments
- •Prepare filings for Commodity Jurisdiction Requests and Advisory Opinions
- •Review and approve visitor requests and technology control plans
- •Support drafting, review, and implementation of internal processes and procedures
- •Prepare and conduct compliance trainings for employees
- •Review and approve international shipments
- •Clear and escalate automated flags for global trade compliance screening
- •Ensure compliance with FCPA and anti-bribery requirements
- •Coordinate with HR teams for export compliance for new hires
- •Analyze economic and financial sanctions for implications to global business
- •Lead project teams and oversee assignments of lower-level employees
- •Conduct compliance audits and investigations, drafting summaries of findings
- •Support preparation of voluntary self-disclosures
Requirements
- •B.S. or B.A.
- •4 years experience in international trade compliance.
- •Excellent judgement and communication (oral and written) problem-solving skills and the ability to work with people of all levels.
- •Experience reading and interpreting complex trade regulations.
- •Ability to be self-motivated and work independently with a careful, methodical approach.
- •Ability to be detail-oriented, and accurate with high attention to detail.
- •Expert in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- •High degree of knowledge in international trade compliance and how to apply them to meet business objectives.
- •Ability to adapt style and use persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the business.
- •This position requires access to export-controlled information, and as such, employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
- •This is a full-time, hybrid position which will require you to work in our D.C. office at least three days per week.
