Job Description
The Guidance and Control Intern at Planet will work with a team of engineers on the attitude determination and control subsystem of satellites, focusing on algorithm development, anomaly resolution, and operational product validation, while also contributing to hardware testing and software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement attitude determination and control algorithms
- Resolve anomalies related to spacecraft telemetry
- Generate and validate operational products for attitude determination
- Assist in the development and analysis of new mission concepts
- Support the development of state estimation and commanding systems for spacecraft
- Build ground testing equipment for concept validation
- Contribute to design, prototyping, and testing of ADCS sensors and actuators
Requirements
- BS degree in Aerospace Controls Engineering
- Knowledge of estimation and control theory, orbit fundamentals
- Familiarity with ADCS sensors and actuators including gyroscopes, reaction wheels, and star cameras
- Experience with Matlab Simulink, Python, or C/C++
- Experience conducting experiments and testing
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and as such, employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
- This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to be in our San Francisco office 3 days per week.
