Job Description
The Wind Engineer will provide technical support for Clearway's wind turbine fleet, managing projects to resolve operational issues and collaborating with OEMs and internal teams. Responsibilities include maintenance engineering, performance improvement initiatives, and contributing to asset management platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive technical support for the wind fleet and field operations teams.
- Manage projects focused on resolving critical technical issues to improve fleet availability.
- Act as Clearway's primary technical liaison with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- Review, approve, and oversee the deployment of retrofits and upgrades.
- Review, approve, and supervise deployment of software and firmware upgrades.
- Follow Clearway's change management process to ensure minimal impact to availability and compliance.
- Support field personnel in corrective and preventative maintenance for wind turbines.
- Develop maintenance procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
- Evaluate the reliability of legacy technologies to support potential acquisitions.
- Develop engineering work instructions and checklists.
- Occasionally provide technical support to Solar and Battery operations teams.
- Adhere to health, safety, environmental, and quality processes.
- Participate in team initiatives to enhance component performance, quality, and functionality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to fleet-wide initiatives.
- Prepare for travel, including overnight trips on short notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field
- 4 years of experience in engineering, field operations, or maintenance
- Strong communication skills
- Project and priority management skills
- Technical communication ability
- Expertise in rotating machinery
- Well-versed in maintenance plans, protocols, and best practices
- Proficient in interpreting and developing technical instructions
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical manuals, and commissioning reports
- Skilled in diagnosing turbine faults and failures
- Knowledgeable in Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Familiar with applicable wind industry standards, including IEC 61400, UL, NEC, and OSHA
- Willing and able to travel on short notice to Clearway sites across the continental U.S.
- 7 years of experience in engineering or field operations for Senior Wind Engineer
- 12 years of experience (10 with MS degree) in engineering or field operations for Principal Wind Engineer

Compensation/salary range: 102,000 - 180,000 USD
