Job Description
The Associate Portfolio Manager at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for strategic decision-making and execution of transactions to optimize and manage the company's solar and battery storage assets in the PJM and ERCOT markets, focusing on maximizing profitability while mitigating risks.
Responsibilities
- •Manage commercial operations of the Cypress Creek fleet in PJM and support ERCOT Portfolio Manager.
- •Make dispatch and trade decisions to balance risk and return for maximum profitability.
- •Monitor and analyze market information to identify opportunities for profitability and risk reduction.
- •Optimize solar generation and battery storage assets based on economic conditions and operational constraints.
- •Develop bidding strategies and manage Day-Ahead and Real-Time operations of the PV and BESS Portfolio.
- •Provide schedules to third-party Energy Manager for market bidding and scheduling power services.
- •Participate in the execution of monthly FTR CRR strategies to manage congestion risk.
- •Incorporate weather and generation forecasts into decision-making processes.
- •Engage in day-to-day risk management and optimization of operating storage.
- •Commercialize the inventory of RECs produced by the assets.
- •Review and analyze commercial terms of existing and upcoming PPAs, proposing risk mitigation strategies.
- •Support short-term optimization strategy for storage assets, including forecasting and market execution.
- •Assist Development teams on new solar and battery storage assets regarding market protocols and pricing.
- •Collaborate with the Origination team on negotiation and execution of offtake agreements.
- •Analyze complex offtake structures and perform term sheet analysis and valuation.
- •Coordinate with Fleet and Solutions O&M teams regarding unit availability and outage schedules.
- •Ensure compliance with risk management policies and verify transaction settlement information.
- •Communicate risk metrics and analyze economic impacts of market movements on the portfolio.
- •Perform ad hoc analysis to support decision-making and market views.
- •Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and risk exposures affecting the portfolio.
Requirements
- •At least five (5) years of relevant experience in Competitive Energy Markets.
- •Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area required.
- •Experience working on a power trading desk.
- •Commercially oriented structuring and risk management experience.
- •Experience in the market structure, transactions, and protocols of PJM and ERCOT; experience in other ISOs is highly valued.
- •Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage.
- •Knowledge of US energy markets, wholesale power markets, RTO operations and electric transmission.
- •Proficiency in Excel, SQL, VBA, Python.
