Job Description
The Sr. Data Engineer at Samsara will develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines and contribute to building the company's Data Platform, enabling advanced automation and analytics. This role involves working with diverse data sources to facilitate data integration and transformation, ensuring data quality and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines and backend ingestion.
- Manage critical data pipelines to support growth initiatives and advanced analytics.
- Facilitate data integration and transformation between applications.
- Develop and improve data architecture, quality, monitoring, and availability.
- Write data transformations in SQL and Python for data products.
- Champion and embed Samsara's cultural principles within the team.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, information technology, or equivalent engineering program.
- 5 years of work experience as a data engineer, including 3 years of experience in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining E2E data pipelines.
- Experience with modern cloud-based data-lake and data-warehousing technology stacks, and familiarity with typical data-engineering tools, ETL ELT, and data-warehousing processes and best practices.
- Experience with the following Languages: Python, SQL.
- Exposure to ETL tools such as Fivetran, DBT or equivalent.
- API Exposure to python based API frameworks for data pipelines.
- RDBMS experience with MySQL, AWS RDS Aurora MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL-Server or equivalent.
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
- Data warehouse experience with Databricks, Google Big Query, AWS Redshift, Snowflake or equivalent.
