Job Description
The Electrolyte Scientist will develop and scale new cell technologies to enhance energy density, power, safety, and cost for electric vehicle applications, collaborating with material suppliers and internal teams to innovate battery materials and processes.
Responsibilities
- •Develop improved electrolyte chemistries and formulations for cell technologies
- •Synthesize, formulate, and characterize new materials with lab operations team
- •Evaluate and select promising materials technologies from vendors
- •Lead projects with material suppliers to customize materials for cell technologies
- •Scale discovered materials for prototyping, pilot, and production with manufacturing team
- •Establish SOPs for material formulation and testing
- •Initiate projects for new or optimized materials for products
- •Take ownership of development and scaling of critical materials for cell programs
- •Validate improved materials in large format 10 Ah cells
- •Establish a roadmap and R&D plan for radical improvement in material performance
Requirements
- •PhD or equivalent experience in chemistry, material science, or related field
- •Proven track record in discovery of new materials, synthetic processes, or analytical methods
- •Experience in electrochemistry and/or organic chemistry in a laboratory environment
- •Experience with materials development for batteries
- •Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- •4 years of experience in battery engineering
