Job Description
The Senior Design Drafter is responsible for developing complex 3D mechanical designs, leading drafting activities, mentoring junior drafters, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate, manufacturable, and standards-compliant design deliverables within the Boiler Burner Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead complex 3D mechanical designs and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Review and interpret mechanical specifications and project requirements to optimize equipment design.
- Check and approve detailed drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
- Coordinate drafting activities across multiple projects to ensure schedule and standard adherence.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior drafters.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to resolve design issues and incorporate changes.
- Support fabrication and installation teams with design clarification and site visits.
Requirements
- Associate s Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of drafting design experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
- Experience in the Boiler or Burner industry is required.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to check and approve drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PDF markup tools Foxit, Bluebeam, etc.
- Up to 20 travel may be required for project and shop support.
