Job Description

The Controls Engineer at Zeeco is responsible for providing controls and instrumentation expertise, including developing drawings, control panel BOMs, and logic diagrams, as well as inspecting equipment and supporting commissioning efforts for various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project engineering and sales packages to determine equipment scope
  • Read and implement customer specifications for AS SOLD equipment
  • Develop P&ID drawings in coordination with project, sales, and process engineers
  • Create control panel BOMs including enclosures, switches, relays, timers, alarms, and PLCs
  • Develop ISA data sheets for various transmitters and instrumentation
  • Design drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, and warning systems
  • Develop logic diagrams in ISA format for PLC and DCS systems
  • Prepare cable BOMs, routing plans, and schedules
  • Perform inspection and testing of equipment prior to shipment

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years of industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to review project engineering and sales packages to determine the scope of equipment Zeeco is to supply to customers
  • Ability to read customer specifications and implement those specifications as they apply to the AS SOLD equipment
  • Experience in developing P ID drawings in coordination with project, sales, and process engineers to meet the Zeeco AS SOLD package and customer specification requirements
  • Experience in developing control panel BOMs that include control enclosures, pilot lights, push-buttons, selector switches, relays, timers, trip alarms, purge systems, and PLCs
  • Experience in developing ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters, control valves, positioners, analytical instruments, and other instrumentation
  • Experience in developing drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, and aviation warning light systems, including general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, and interconnection and wire diagrams
  • Experience in developing logic diagrams in ISA format for complex logic devices such as PLCs and DCS systems
  • Ability to prepare cable BOMs, routing plans, and schedules
  • Ability to perform inspection and testing of equipment prior to shipment from Zeeco’s fabrication facility, including with the customer present
  • Willingness to occasionally travel domestically and overseas to assist the Zeeco sales group or assist customers with commissioning of the Zeeco supplied control system
