Job Description
A Data Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines, optimizing data warehouses, and ensuring data quality for a travel industry client, utilizing technologies like Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and cloud services in a remote, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using dbt and Airflow
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing SQL ETL processes and data loads
- Design and develop extensible data models and integration solutions using tools like Snowflake, Airflow, Soda, and AWS S3
- Implement and enforce data quality, testing, and documentation best practices
- Continuously optimize the Snowflake data warehouse for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
Requirements
- Three (3) years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a related role.
- Strong hands-on expertise in building data pipelines, data models, and implementing data quality frameworks.
- Proven experience accessing and manipulating structured and semi-structured data, e.g., JSON, across cloud environments.
- Proficiency with at least some of the following technologies: Snowflake, Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, AWS cloud storage services, and working with data from APIs.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python or Scala for data manipulation and scripting, as well as advanced SQL and stored procedures for complex querying and data modeling.
- Experience with orchestration and monitoring tools such as Airflow.
- Solid understanding of ETL and ELT design patterns, data modeling principles, and database architectures.
- Familiarity with full stack development practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools such as GitHub and Jenkins.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical analysis into clear, precise, and actionable insights for stakeholders.
