Water/Wastewater Utility Technician

• Preventative & Corrective Maintenance on lift stations and their assets (generators/auxiliary pumps) including inspections. • Servicing the Vacuum station (a collection system that relies on vacuum suction to transport sewage from homes within the neighborhood) is different from the typical gravity/force main sewer system. • Fix & repair leaks to water, reclaim, and force mains as they arise. • Installs and changes out water and reuse meters. • Perform meter reads. • Work with Utility billing and customer service relations. • City hall generates work orders, whether this is turn on or turn off’s for accounts. • Flushes hydrants, maintenance, exercises valves, and performs pressure tests of fire hydrants. • Service backflows (if the license is obtained). • Work with GIS for locates. • Operates various heavy and light equipment including backhoes, crane truck, vac trucks, etc. • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

• Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance. • Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures preferred. • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. • Ability to repair pumping equipment and control switches. • Experience with wastewater and water transfer systems a plus! • Water Distribution License issued by the state of Florida or the ability to obtain within 1 year. • Must possess a valid FL driver’s license and a safe driving record. • CDL is a plus or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months. • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
