The Water and Wastewater Project Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of water and wastewater systems for the Adelanto Public Utility Authority, managing staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring regulatory adherence while handling emergency responses and project management tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise daily operational and maintenance activities of the water and wastewater systems.
Oversee regulatory sampling programs and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Coordinate and communicate with operations staff, clients, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms.
Implement and manage predictive maintenance programs and oversee routine and capital repair projects.
Respond to emergency situations, process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events.
Prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the firm.
Manage project budget, scope, and schedule, serving as the main point of contact between the client and the firm.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing water or wastewater treatment and distribution systems.
Experience overseeing daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of drinking water and wastewater systems.
Ability to manage and supervise a team of at least 11 staff members.
Proven experience managing regulatory sampling programs and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Experience managing budgets, scope, and schedule of projects and contractual obligations.
Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms.
Experience in implementing and managing predictive maintenance programs.
Ability to prepare reports for regulators, clients, and internal stakeholders regularly.
Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision.
Work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
Availability for standby duty, on-call work, and responding to emergency situations outside normal work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Reliable and dependable attendance with the ability to work in inclement weather as needed.
Participation in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours.
Ability to respond to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.
