Job Description
The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring system efficiency, regulatory compliance, staff development, and emergency response, while coordinating with various stakeholders and managing routine and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the wastewater treatment facility
- Coordinate and communicate with operations, clients, contractors, and engineering firms
- Ensure system operation and optimization for compliance and efficiency
- Oversee compliance reporting and staff development
- Implement and manage asset management, repair, and replacement projects
- Respond to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical or college degree is preferred.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing wastewater treatment facilities or similar operations.
- Demonstrate experience in managing day-to-day operational activities of a wastewater treatment plant.
- Have experience coordinating and communicating effectively with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
- Be capable of ensuring effective system operation and optimization of wastewater treatment processes.
- Have experience in preparing and submitting compliance reporting for wastewater treatment facilities.
- Possess experience in staff development and training within a wastewater treatment environment.
- Have experience in implementing and managing an asset management program for wastewater treatment facilities.
- Be able to administer and oversee routine and capital repair and replacement projects at a wastewater treatment plant.
- Possess experience in emergency response procedures related to process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
- Follow established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures to perform work in a safe and professional manner.
- Be available to participate in an on-call rotation outside normal work hours, including weekends, to respond to emergency situations.
- Be physically capable of working in inclement weather conditions as needed.
- Have knowledge of safety, operating, and emergency response procedures relevant to wastewater treatment operations.
