Job Description
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end management of electronic product development projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery, and maintaining quality and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project lifecycle for new electronic product introductions, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and lead cross-functional project teams across engineering, sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management.
- Drive project execution, track progress, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and handle scope changes.
- Manage project budgets, forecast resource needs, and track expenditures.
- Facilitate clear and timely communication of project status to stakeholders, including reports, dashboards, and meetings.
- Ensure adherence to electronics development processes, including design reviews, prototyping, testing, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with sourcing, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to manage procurement, supplier relationships, and transition to mass production.
- Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, resource, and supply chain risks with contingency plans.
- Ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, reliability targets, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the improvement of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of direct project management experience within the electronics industry, including sectors such as consumer electronics, semiconductors, IoT, industrial electronics, medical devices, or automotive electronics.
- Fluency in English is a mandatory requirement; Chinese speaking capability is preferred.
- Solid understanding of electronics product development processes, including hardware design, PCB layout, firmware development, software integration, mechanical design, testing methodologies, and manufacturing processes such as SMT, assembly, and testing.
- Experience working with global teams in design and manufacturing environments.
- Experience with regulatory compliance processes including FCC, CE, UL, ETL, etc.
- Experience managing projects involving RF, power electronics, or wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or Zigbee.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is preferred; candidates with degrees in other fields will be considered based on actual work experience.
- PMP Project Management Professional certification is preferred.
- Other certifications or training related to project management are preferred.
- Ability to work 48 hours per week.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Willingness to regularly travel for work.
