Job Description

A research scientist position focused on developing and evaluating large behavior models for robotics, aiming to enable reliable, safe, and adaptive deployment of robots in human environments through advanced machine learning techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to enable reliable deployment of large behavior models (LBMs) in human environments.
  • Develop and evaluate algorithms for policy assessment, failure detection, and mitigation in robotic systems.
  • Advance active continual learning techniques to improve robot adaptability and robustness.
  • Apply insights from foundation models, generative modeling, reinforcement learning, and uncertainty estimation to robotics problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and publish state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms for robotics.

Requirements

  • A strong background in embodied machine learning, with the ability to conduct research independently and work well as part of a larger research team at the cutting edge of state-of-the-art robotics and machine learning.
  • Experience with robots is preferred, particularly in the manipulation domain.
  • Expertise in Policy Evaluation, Failure Detection and Mitigation, and Active Learning in the context of Large Behavior Models (LBMs) for robotic manipulation.
  • Knowledge of topics including Multi-Modal Foundation Models, Generative Modeling, Imitation Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Planning Control, Statistics, Uncertainty Estimation, Out-of-Distribution Detection, Safety-Aware Robust Machine Learning, Interactive Learning, and Online Continual Learning.
  • Ability to conduct research independently in the relevant areas.
  • Educational background in a field related to machine learning, robotics, or a similar discipline (implied but not explicitly specified).
