Job Description
The Senior Design Transfer Engineer - Systems Operations is responsible for ensuring smooth transition of product designs from development to manufacturing, focusing on manufacturability, scalability, and production readiness across hardware projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to prevent risks and support manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute transitions from product development into manufacturing to ensure products are manufacturable, scalable, and production-ready.
- Influence early design decisions to prevent manufacturing risks and support production readiness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Process Development, Supply Chain, Quality, and Contract Manufacturers to facilitate design transfer and industrialization.
- Support manufacturing ramp-up and early production stabilization to ensure product robustness and scalability.
- Identify and address manufacturing risks early in the development process to enable sustainable scaling.
Requirements
- Experience in executing robust and efficient transitions from product development into manufacturing, ensuring product designs are manufacturable, scalable, and production-ready.
- Ability to act as a key technical bridge between Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Quality.
- Focus on influencing design decisions early in the development process to prevent manufacturing risks and support production readiness.
- Experience supporting production readiness from NPI (New Product Introduction) through EVT (Engineering Validation Testing), DVT (Design Validation Testing), pilot builds, and ramp-up phases.
- Knowledge of design transfer, industrialization, manufacturing readiness, and early production stabilization processes.
- Proven ability to ensure product designs are scalable, manufacturable, and robust before and during ramp-up.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Process Development, Supply Chain, Quality, and Contract Manufacturers to prevent manufacturing risks and enable sustainable scale.
- Strong understanding of design transfer and continuous improvement frameworks within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to execute priorities and escalate technical decisions as needed within a structured department framework.
- Candidates must possess a valid EU visa and be based in Portugal.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, design transfer, or a related field.
- Educational background in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (specific degree requirements are implied but not explicitly stated).
