Job Description
The role involves leading the commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of material handling systems at a new industrial-scale plant, ensuring safety, efficiency, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support advanced battery materials manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate the commissioning, startup, and stabilization of material handling systems at the new plant.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution and issue resolution.
- Lead process safety activities, including hazard analysis, documentation updates, and risk mitigation.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues during commissioning and early operations.
- Analyze system performance data to identify improvement opportunities and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership for future material handling projects, including expansion and next-generation technology development.
- Support equipment selection, vendor evaluation, and technical qualification for material handling systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process basis, safety procedures, and operational manuals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 6 years of industrial experience in process design, commissioning, and operations, preferably within powders, chemicals, or advanced materials manufacturing.
- Experience with bulk material handling, pneumatic conveying, blending, screening and packaging systems.
- Extensive experience with process integration of solids handling systems including controls, mechanical design, material handling related codes, and technology selection.
- Familiarity with regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance requirements, including NFPA, API, ASME, OSHA, and related standards.
- Experience creating, reading, and editing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D CAD models, Equipment Drawings, Process Control Narratives, and Operation Procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of material handling or process systems.
- Strong decision-making skills based on functional requirements, technical risk, design risk, technology selection risk, management of change, and HAZOP risks.
- Experience with safety-critical instrumentation, safety relief, and operational alarms.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and optimization experience of industrial-scale systems.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate across multiple teams and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations such as plant startups, new product trials, and turnarounds, while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits & Perks
Starting base pay between $151,000 and $191,000
Work at a new production site with up to 60 travel during startup and up to 10 travel during non-startup periods
