Job Description
The role involves leading process development and scale-up of advanced battery materials, utilizing scientific techniques and statistical analysis to translate laboratory processes into high-volume manufacturing, supporting the company's mission to create innovative, high-performance lithium-ion batteries for clean energy applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze experiments to optimize product development processes
- Document and communicate research findings to partners and stakeholders
- Lead process scale-up from pilot to high-volume manufacturing
- Translate lab processes into robust, high-yield production methods
- Develop characterization and testing methods to enhance scientific understanding and manufacturability
- Identify safety hazards and implement safety improvements
Requirements
- Masters in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry with 6 years of relevant industry experience, or an equivalent qualification.
- Expertise in process development, statistical analysis, and advanced data analysis tools such as Python, database mining, and JMP.
- Experience leading process scale-up and qualification activities across internal or external manufacturing environments.
- Deep understanding of state-of-the-art material characterization techniques including SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, and Gas Chromatography.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical findings to diverse audiences through verbal, written, and presentation formats.
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a periodic basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Use a glove box to prepare samples.
- Operate analytical equipment at a bench.
- Move items weighing up to 25 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts.
- Move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Operate a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, copier, and printer in a fixed location.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% to support commissioning and vendor supplier engagements.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $151,000 to $191,000 base pay
Work schedule: Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
