Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will design, implement, and support electrical systems for a large-scale battery materials manufacturing facility, collaborating across teams to ensure safe, reliable, and scalable electrical infrastructure for production equipment and plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and deploy industrial electrical systems for the facility
- Serve as the technical expert for electrical distribution system design and implementation
- Collaborate with teams to design electrical subsystems for production equipment
- Manage electrical engineering design work by third-party contractors
- Review and develop electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and custom electrical panels
- Conduct arc flash analyses and develop equipment specifications
- Create electrical work packages for site installation and manage procurement processes
- Develop and maintain electrical standards, specifications, and design guidelines
- Provide technical support during equipment fabrication, installation, startup, and commissioning
- Maintain electrical documentation, including wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and BOMs
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering is required.
- 8 years of industry experience in electrical engineering is required.
- Proficiency in designing industrial electrical power systems, including electronics and wiring knowledge of analog signals, AC and DC power fundamentals, control wiring, and diagnostic tools.
- Experience generating electrical schematics, including wiring diagrams, network architecture, control panel design, and power distribution, with experience in AutoCAD Electrical and ETAP.
- Extensive experience with electric power system design, studies, and protective relay applications.
- Experience with cable sizing and specifying cable tray and conduit routing layouts.
- Experience designing, analyzing, and implementing robust ground and shielding schemes.
- Expertise in NFPA 70 National Electrical Code and NFPA 79 Industrial Machinery Safety, UL508A standards.
- Support NFPA 86 design review process, especially electrical design for electric heaters.
- Design experience for high power systems such as electrical heaters, compressors, pumps, etc.
- Design experience for electrical systems in hazardous areas.
- Develop FAT/SAT plans for electrical panels.
- Familiarity with standards for emergency and stationary power including UL2200, NFPA 110, NFPA 111.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both highly technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $172,000 to $215,000
Work schedule: Onsite with up to 25% travel potential during critical construction and start-up activities
