Job Description
A Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for supporting and optimizing production equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, designing improvements, and ensuring compliance within a battery materials manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve daily production issues related to mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, furnaces, and material handling systems
- Create and revise CAD models, fabrication drawings, and mechanical fixture designs for operational needs and minor equipment modifications
- Collaborate with maintenance to develop equipment health check strategies, maintenance procedures, and lubrication plans
- Review mechanical design documents and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and regulations
- Establish and maintain technical relationships with external vendors and repair services
- Utilize operational data to develop condition-based monitoring procedures to prevent downtime
- Participate in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for equipment upgrades and reliability improvements
- Document solutions and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- At least 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in chemical process industries, manufacturing, or equipment engineering environment
- Demonstrated experience with industrial processes and equipment, such as pumps, motors, blowers, and valves
- Proficiency in using CAD software for mechanical design, drafting, and drawing review
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical equipment in an industrial setting
- Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work independently on assignments and effectively as a member of a cross-functional team
- Familiarity with Mechanical Integrity concepts within a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility (preferred)
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Ability to move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
- Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Ability to reach low shelves or items on the floor
- Ability to enter spaces narrower than 3 feet and climb stairs or over containment walls
- Ability to perform precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, copier, or printer in a fixed location
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $121,000 to $152,000
Work schedule: Onsite
