Job Description
The Engineering Manager will lead and grow a high-performing engineering team to develop innovative hardware, firmware, and software solutions that leverage AI and IoT technologies to modernize physical operations and solve complex operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive engineering team
- Define and execute the technical vision and product roadmap in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Leverage AI and machine learning to develop innovative solutions for customer problems
- Oversee the architecture, development, and delivery of new product initiatives from concept to deployment
- Establish and monitor engineering metrics to ensure rapid iteration and high-quality output
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 6 years of professional software development experience.
- 2 years of formal experience managing a team of software engineers in a product-driven environment.
- A deep-seated curiosity and a willingness to dive into complex technical and customer problems.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for developing a strong team culture.
- Experience building and leading teams in a high-growth company and navigating ambiguity to deliver results (Startup DNA).
- Hands-on AI and Machine Learning experience, including practical experience building with or fine-tuning AI models such as Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Proven success at scale, with a history of leading teams that have shipped and scaled software products to a large and growing user base.
- Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn Samsara's core technologies, including Go, TypeScript, GraphQL, gRPC, and React (React Native experience is a plus).
