Job Description
The Operations Technician will support research and prototyping efforts by working closely with engineers to develop and test new processes for manufacturing large, high-performance fiber-reinforced polymer composites used in construction and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop and test new processes for manufacturing FRP components.
- Fabricate large prototype components on-site using proprietary resin chemistry techniques.
- Assist in shaping product development by conducting experiments and providing feedback on process performance.
Requirements
- Experience working closely with engineers and designers to bring ideas to life, test new processes, and help shape the future of products.
- Ability to work at the heart of R D and prototyping efforts, supporting experimental and development activities.
- Proficiency in fabricating large components on-site, including operating equipment and processes related to the manufacturing of fiber-reinforced polymer composites (FRPs).
- Knowledge of resin chemistry and its application in processing FRPs to innovate and improve manufacturing speed and reliability.
- Experience in testing new manufacturing processes and materials, particularly in the context of high-performance FRPs for infrastructure and energy applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on building big, fast, and low-cost components.
- Physical ability to perform tasks related to on-site manufacturing and prototyping, which may include lifting, standing for extended periods, and handling large components or equipment.
- Educational background or experience relevant to materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields (specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated but implied through technical nature of work).
