Job Description
The Operations Technician will support research and development efforts by working closely with engineers to prototype, test, and refine processes for manufacturing large, high-performance fiber-reinforced polymer composites used in construction and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop and test new processes for manufacturing FRPs
- Assist in prototyping efforts by bringing ideas to life through fabrication and experimentation
- Conduct tests on new materials and processes to evaluate performance and reliability
Requirements
- Experience working closely with engineers and designers to bring ideas to life, test new processes, and help shape the future of products
- Ability to work in a research and development and prototyping environment, supporting experimental and manufacturing efforts
- Proficiency in fabricating large components on-site, including operating relevant equipment and tools
- Knowledge of fiber-reinforced polymer composites (FRPs), including understanding their properties and processing techniques
- Experience with resin chemistry and its application in manufacturing processes
- Ability to work with proprietary resin chemistries for on-site manufacturing of high-performance FRPs
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to manufacturing and prototyping environments
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require standing, lifting, and handling large components or materials
- Educational background or experience relevant to technical manufacturing, materials science, or engineering (implied, as the role involves technical fabrication and testing)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers and designers
