Job Description
A Staff Flight Software Engineer responsible for leading the development of safety-critical avionics software for REGENT's innovative seaglider, including real-time control, sensor integration, health monitoring, and certification processes to ensure robust and certifiable flight systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of safety-critical avionics software for the seaglider
- Own software components including real-time control, mode logic, sensor and actuator integration, health monitoring, and inter-processor communications
- Define plans, processes, and evidence for safety-critical software certification and drive approval processes with classification societies and authorities
- Architect partitioned RTOS-based systems with strict timing and isolation standards
- Establish certification-ready CI/CD pipelines
- Lead requirement-based verification through SIL, HIL, and sea trials
- Collaborate across disciplines such as controls, avionics, systems, and testing to define flight software requirements
Requirements
- Experience in leading the development of safety-critical avionics software for complex systems, including real-time control, mode logic, sensor and actuator integration, health monitoring, and inter-processor communications.
- Proven ability to define plans, processes, and evidence required for safety-critical software across multiple teams and criticalities, and to drive approvals with classification societies and flag state authorities.
- Experience architecting partitioned RTOS-based systems with strict timing and isolation standards.
- Experience standing up certification-ready CI/CD pipelines for safety-critical software development.
- Experience leading requirement-based verification through SIL (Software-in-the-Loop), HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop), and full-scale sea trials.
- Ability to work across disciplines including controls, avionics, systems, and testing to define and develop flight software for amphibious mobility vehicles.
- Educational background in engineering, computer science, or related technical field (implied by the need for technical expertise in avionics and software development).
