Job Description
The Lead Aerodynamics Engineer will oversee the aerodynamic design and analysis of innovative seagliders, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and safety across various flight regimes, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring the vehicle from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop the aerodynamic design of seagliders from concept to production-ready models.
- Lead CFD simulations, trade studies, and physical validation to optimize aerodynamic performance, efficiency, and safety.
- Guide and mentor early career engineers, establishing best practices in aerodynamics.
- Collaborate with structures, controls, and certification teams to deliver validated aerodynamic designs.
- Represent the aerodynamic function in design reviews, test planning, and customer discussions to inform decision-making.
Requirements
- Proven experience in leading aerodynamic design and analysis for complex vehicles, including conceptual design, CFD simulation, trade studies, and physical validation.
- Ability to own the aerodynamic development of vehicles from early concept to production-ready designs, ensuring performance, efficiency, and safety standards are met.
- Experience working with multiple flight regimes such as displacement, hydrofoiling, and wing-borne ground effect, each with its own aerodynamic challenges.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamics principles applicable to wing-in-ground-effect craft and related flight regimes.
- Ability to mentor early career engineers and shape best practices in aerodynamics.
- Experience working collaboratively with structures, controls, and certification teams to deliver validated aerodynamic designs.
- Experience representing the aerodynamic function in design reviews, test planning, and customer discussions, translating technical insights into clear, actionable decisions.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work both in detailed analysis and in guiding broader aerodynamic vision.
- Educational background in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (specific degree requirements not explicitly stated but implied by the technical nature of the role).
