Job Description
The Software Engineering Lead for Warehouse ERP Systems at Redwood Materials is responsible for defining and managing the development of a new warehouse management system, translating business needs into technical solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and prioritize the product scope for the new warehouse management system (WMS) through stakeholder discovery.
- Embed with warehouse, finance, and operations teams to determine system requirements for cutover and future scaling.
- Make scope decisions to ensure the system remains minimal and justified by business needs.
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships, align requirements, and negotiate priorities.
- Conduct continuous product discovery to validate assumptions, decompose goals, and adjust scope during development.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ambiguity, translating complex business problems into clear engineering tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership on architecture, feasibility, and technical sequencing.
- Drive system stabilization, continuous improvement, and future planning post-implementation.
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of experience in software engineering and/or technical product leadership on engineering teams, including experience defining product scope, not just building to specifications.
- Direct experience building, implementing, or heavily customizing warehouse management or supply chain systems, with understanding of how receiving, inventory, and shipping processes work.
- Track record of translating ambiguous business problems into clear, prioritized engineering work on complex, multi-quarter initiatives.
- Strong cross-functional stakeholder management skills, including interviewing floor operators, negotiating scope boundaries, and reporting status to leadership.
- Technical depth to evaluate trade-offs in Python, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS, and communicate feasibility to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to be on-site in Nevada at least 3 days a week.
- Clear and direct communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in fast-moving environments where requirements evolve.
