A Senior Process Engineer at Redwood Materials is responsible for supporting and improving chemical and metallurgical processes related to battery recycling, including plant design, commissioning, and operational support, with a focus on sustainability and innovation in the recycling industry.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure processes are safe, efficient, sustainable, and continuously improving in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams
Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement new process plants and equipment
Design, test, and operate flowsheets and pilot plants for process development
Support process plant implementation, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up
Conduct process modeling, trade-off evaluations, and financial assessments for process improvements
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Master's degree (M.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.
5 to 7 years of experience in Chemical Plant Operations and/or Design and Commissioning.
Experience in large-scale industrial processing.
Operational support experience with a proven track record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical process problems and making plant improvements.
Testwork and pilot plant design and operation experience.
Process modelling experience using HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM, or similar software, including equipment sizing and linking testwork and pilot plant operation to real project implementation.
Experience conducting trade-off studies and financial evaluations related to process plant design and operation.
Experience in process plant design, implementation, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments.
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Ability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE.
Availability to work in a split environment between office and production facility, including extended periods in the production environment.
Willingness to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, for extended periods.
Availability to work occasional weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs.
