Job Description
The Senior Construction Manager, Self Perform Electrical oversees and manages electrical and mechanical self-perform teams for industrial plant construction projects, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance while coordinating with various departments to deliver large-scale energy storage and battery material facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee electrical self-perform teams, including scheduling, procurement, and installation activities.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, maintenance, and operations departments throughout project phases.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards through safety reviews, meetings, and inspections.
- Develop and manage project schedules, procedures, staffing, and equipment resources to meet deadlines.
- Review design and specification documents for completeness and resolve conflicts with designers and teams.
- Supervise construction activities, including utility, structure, and vendor tool installations, to meet schedule and budget goals.
- Manage existing plant modifications and scope additions during shutdown schedules.
- Lead and manage teams of superintendents, mechanical, and electrical tradesmen across multiple projects.
- Coordinate construction activities to prevent scope conflicts and address constructability issues.
- Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies to support project execution.
- Review and approve staffing, equipment needs, and procurement strategies for project efficiency.
- Lead project closeout procedures, including finalizing contracts and resolving disputes.
- Conduct project debriefs to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- 20 years experience in construction supervision
- 15 years experience in managing field personnel
- 10 electrical construction experience as both a tradesman and supervisor
- Experience driving trades workers to meet safety, schedule, and production milestones
- Experience managing multiple field crews for both electrical and process piping scopes
- Extensive experience with industrial and commercial MEP Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing systems
- Experience in plant shutdown scheduling and coordination to meet shutdown and operational milestones
- Valid Driver's License
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong interpersonal skills developed to engage and retain positive working relationships
- Ability to identify, track, and manage project risk
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple departments and direct reports to retain focus on project completion goals and timelines
- Ability to identify growth opportunities for project personnel and develop to coach and mentor project personnel
- Ability to delegate task-driven responsibilities to project personnel
- Advanced knowledge of Procore and MS Office, including advanced skill working in Excel
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 or other scheduling software
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to inquiries or requests for changes/claims from subcontractors, management, co-workers, or regulatory agencies
- Ability to effectively present information to executive management and/or public groups
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret and write technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form
- Physical ability to perform day-to-day inspections and manage construction activities (implied by role responsibilities)
