A Manufacturing Engineering Technician at Redwood Materials supports the development and operation of battery manufacturing lines by assembling, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Build, set up, and operate manufacturing equipment for energy storage products
Assemble, install, and maintain test infrastructure and electrical systems
Operate equipment safely, following procedures and handling high-voltage systems
Collect, organize, and document test data, observations, and results
Troubleshoot equipment issues and support failure analysis
Assist with product assembly, build readiness, and day-to-day troubleshooting for NPI lines
Create and maintain build documentation, work instructions, and change logs
Support management of lab inventory, organization, and electrical infrastructure
Assemble and validate high-voltage harnesses and electrical sub-systems in compliance with safety standards
Requirements
Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related fields
At least 3 years of experience in a lab, manufacturing, or test environment as a technician, engineering tech, or similar role
Experience working with or around high-voltage systems in the range of 400-2000VDC and 480-800VAC
Strong safety discipline including knowledge and application of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe work practices
Strong hands-on skills with mechanical assembly, wiring, sensors, instrumentation, and lab equipment
Ability to follow procedures, maintain detailed documentation, and produce clear test summaries
Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with engineers and stakeholders across levels
Ability to perform essential physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting up to 25 lbs, typing, and performing repetitive motions
Manual dexterity to work with small components under a microscope for extended periods, including precision soldering and handling heavy copper assemblies
Ability to work in conditions that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE
Flexibility to support different shifts, including occasional travel, weekends, nights, or on-call work as needed
