Job Description
The Development Engineering Technician, Electrochemistry at Redwood Materials is responsible for conducting experiments and developing new equipment, processes, and products related to battery materials, with a focus on wet-chemistry, lab testing, and supporting manufacturing innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and execute experiments at lab and pilot scale to develop new equipment, flowsheets, and products
- Build and maintain laboratory equipment
- Prepare solutions and conduct wet-chemistry bench experiments
- Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques
- Perform chemical analyses, optical measurements, and mechanical tests
- Monitor and support experiments in high-volume manufacturing
- Develop and validate new metrology systems
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of math, chemistry, and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment.
- Mechanical design and fabrication experience.
- Hands-on experience building complex mechanical systems.
- Laboratory experience in wet-chemistry and bench top experiments.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organization and documentation skills.
- Strong ability to follow detailed technical instructions and operating procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting experiments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to work hands-on in the lab, including standing and operating equipment at a lab bench.
- Able to work in laboratory and factory environment for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Willingness to work in environment including office, wet laboratory, chemical plant, and outdoor test sites.
- Travel required as needed, less than 10%.
