The Battery Disassembly Technician is responsible for safely disassembling EV and energy storage battery packs in a high-volume environment, following safety protocols and quality standards, to support battery recycling and reuse efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Perform safe and controlled disassembly of EV and energy storage battery packs to component level
Execute high-voltage isolation, verification, and handling procedures following safety standards
Sort, classify, and route battery components for reuse, recycling, or disposal
Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for disassembly and inspection
Safely handle, transport, and lift large-format battery systems using material handling equipment
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process improvements and maintain safety and quality standards
Requirements
Perform safe, controlled disassembly of EV and energy storage battery packs down to module and component level, following detailed work instructions and safety standards.
Execute high-voltage isolation, verification, and handling procedures, including strict adherence to lockout tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Sort, classify, and route battery components for reuse, recycling, or disposal in compliance with environmental and production guidelines.
Operate within a high-throughput production environment, meeting performance targets while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and workflow continuity.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment to support disassembly, inspection, and basic troubleshooting tasks.
Safely handle, transport, and lift large-format battery systems using forklifts, cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
Support field operations as required, including up to 10% travel for battery system decommissioning, on-site disassembly, and material recovery.
Meet all requirements for the use of a full-face respirator, including medical clearance and fit testing, in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
Demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical fastening systems, electrical connections, and component-level disassembly techniques.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate cross-functionally to maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with quality and EHS standards.
