Job Description
A Solutions Architect role focused on supporting the expansion of Planet's satellite constellation services in the German and EMEA markets, involving technical solution design, customer engagement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet client needs in defense and civil government sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design robust, scalable satellite-based solutions for customers in Germany and EMEA, translating customer needs into technical specifications and proposals.
- Support strategic customer engagements from initial technical discussions through to solution definition, negotiation, and contracting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather customer feedback and technical requirements to inform product development and service offerings.
- Act as a technical liaison between the EMEA market and internal teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Provide technical expertise and input to support European supply chain and manufacturing initiatives, including evaluating technical feasibility and requirements.
Requirements
- Proficient in both German and English, with written and verbal communication skills in each language.
- Solid experience in designing or delivering technical solutions for customers, with experience working with and understanding the needs of the German government and specifically the German Bundeswehr.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Aerospace, Systems, Software, Physics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Six (6) years of experience in a client-facing technical role such as Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, or Technical Pre-Sales within the space, aerospace, defense, remote sensing, or a related high-technology industry.
- Good understanding of satellite systems, constellation services, or geospatial data and their applications.
- Industry knowledge in aerospace or remote sensing is essential.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the EMEA region as required to support customer engagements.
- Experience in managing aerospace supply chains or involvement in satellite testing, assembly, or manufacturing is a plus.
- Eligible for US Export Control licenses such as ITAR and EAR.
- The position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
