Job Description
A senior revenue manager responsible for overseeing revenue accounting processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP ASC 606, and supporting cross-functional teams in a dynamic, high-growth space and data company environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the revenue contract review process and document revenue considerations for non-standard contracts in accordance with US GAAP ASC 606.
- Manage Planet's revenue accounting in the EMEA region, including month, quarter, and year-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and related reporting and disclosures within an effective SOX framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Deal Desk, Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations to ensure strategic alignment on business initiatives, transactions, system enhancements, and process improvements.
- Support external reporting requirements, including disclosures related to remaining performance obligations and ad-hoc revenue analysis.
- Coordinate projects, product implementations, and system enhancements impacting revenue processes.
- Provide guidance on deal structures and contractual terms to ensure revenue compliance and optimization.
- Engage with external auditors to support quarterly reviews and annual audits, including preparation and review of audit PBCs.
- Supervise and mentor the revenue accounting team to support their professional growth.
Requirements
- Six (6) years of revenue accounting experience, with experience at both public and private companies.
- Four (4) years of supervisory and/or leadership experience.
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606 principles in a SaaS or Software focused industry.
- Ability to be a self-starter and uphold accountability for self and the team.
- Experience supporting Deals Desk, Legal, and/or Sales teams during deal negotiations for revenue compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with collaboration and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities by identifying and engaging appropriate resources to deliver under given time constraints and deadlines.
- Ability to develop and inspire a team by empowering decision-making at lower levels, offering frequent opportunities to develop, and encouraging upward feedback.
- Experience with Netsuite and Salesforce.
- Understanding of business ethics and ability to maintain discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other quantitative major.
- Highly proficient in Excel.
