Job Description

The role involves leading business development efforts within the Australian National Security community, focusing on identifying opportunities, building relationships, and supporting strategic captures related to space and remote sensing technologies for defense and intelligence organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the Australian National Security Community and broader Asia-Pacific region.
  • Develop and execute capture strategies for long-term strategic pursuits with defense and intelligence organizations.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with government and industry partners to support business development efforts.
  • Create and implement engagement plans to align Planet solutions with national security mission needs.
  • Coordinate responses to RFIs, RFPs, White Papers, and proposals, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manage and update customer engagement plans, key messaging, and resource needs in collaboration with global teams.
  • Collaborate with sales, proposal, and product teams on market positioning, pricing, and bid strategies.
  • Conduct market assessments, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning to identify new opportunities.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in business development, strategic planning, or related roles within the Australian National Security Community or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, international relations, security studies, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within the Australian National Security Community, including organizations such as the Australian Defence Forces, Defence Intelligence Group, Joint Operations Command, or Home Affairs, either as a civilian or military officer.
  • Ability and experience in communicating effectively with senior-level civilian leadership and/or military flag officers.
  • Experience forging mutually beneficial relationships with Defence and Intelligence organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including speaking, writing, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Achievements and relevant experience in the private and/or public sector in aerospace, remote sensing, data analytics, sales, business development, military, or intelligence roles.
  • Excellent project, time, and budget management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment with the ability to tackle unique challenges presented by such conditions.
  • Experience working closely with organizations across a wide variety of geographies and sectors.
  • Highly motivated to create a vibrant 21st-century aerospace ecosystem and a commercial GEOINT market.
  • Experience working across multiple parts of Australia’s National Security Community, preferably in GEOINT, Data, Space, Intelligence, Maritime functions in operational or strategic roles.
  • Active security clearance (preferred but not explicitly mandated in the posting).
