Job Description
A Satellite Tasking Engineer responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and automation of Earth observation satellite imagery acquisition, analysis, and operational tools development within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support satellite collection planning during operational processes
- Prepare geospatial data, maps, and dashboards for satellite operations
- Conduct feasibility studies for satellite imagery acquisition
- Develop, validate, and automate operational tools to improve satellite data collection
- Monitor and analyze satellite collection performance and order status
- Collaborate with teams such as image quality support, orbits, mission software, space operations, data pipeline, and product teams
Requirements
- Four years of relevant experience in a related field such as satellite operations, geospatial data analysis, or software development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Geoscience.
- Software development experience in Python or an equivalent programming language.
- Data-driven mindset and comfortable with data analysis.
- Sound SQL skills and familiarity with git version control.
- Understanding of satellite imagery and remote sensing.
- Self-starter who proactively tackles problems and brings in their own ideas.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Team player with an ability to learn and collaborate across teams.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, the language of the company.
- Experience with automation and software development tools such as Jenkins, Bash, and Git.
- Experience with data visualization platforms such as Looker Studio, OMNI, or CARTO.
- Familiarity with geospatial software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL, or libraries like Shapely and GeoPandas.
- Ability to support day-to-day operations including collection performance analysis, order monitoring, and feasibility studies.
- Ability to develop, validate, and automate operational tools.
- Physical or logistical ability to work from the Berlin office up to 3 days per week.
