Job Description
A product designer at Planet is responsible for leading the end-to-end design of the company's platform experience, creating user-centered UX/UI solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to a design culture that addresses complex technical and geospatial data challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather customer feedback and conduct user interviews in collaboration with product partners
- Create UX and UI solutions for a global customer base
- Draft information flows, wireframes, high fidelity screens, and UX prototypes
- Partner with product management and engineering teams to ensure design quality
- Take projects from early ideation to live software, gather feedback, and iterate
- Overcome design challenges and address roadblocks
- Contribute to building and maintaining the company's design culture
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience designing complex digital products, especially bringing new products to market.
- Bachelor's degree in design or an equivalent field.
- Proficiency in designing for technical, SaaS, or B2B products, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Experience working with Figma, Adobe, and design systems.
- A design portfolio demonstrating examples of professional projects, the results, and how you achieved them.
- End-to-end design experience, including taking projects from early ideation to live software, gathering feedback, and improving upon previous iterations.
- Experience overcoming design roadblocks and challenges.
- Standard industry design skillset in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, and rapid prototyping.
- Knowledge of usability and accessibility principles.
- Understanding of visual design principles.
- User-centric design approach.
