Job Description
The internship involves working with a team of engineers on satellite flight dynamics and mission planning, focusing on tasks such as orbit determination, constellation design, and developing visualization tools, to support on-orbit operations and optimize satellite missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support on-orbit operations testing and troubleshooting
- Investigate technical problems, test hypotheses, and implement solutions related to satellite operations
- Document technical approaches and solutions for mission planning and flight dynamics
- Work on projects involving constellation design, orbit determination, and maneuver planning
- Develop visualization tools for mission scheduling and orbit analysis
Requirements
- Pursuing a BS or MS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics fundamentals
- Proficient in Python or C programming languages
- Familiarity with software development toolkits and the software development life cycle
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
Benefits & Perks
Compensation: US hourly rate range of 35 - 60 USD, final salary determined by experience, skills, and location
Work schedule: Full-time, 12-week internship from June 1 to August 21 or June 22 to September 11, based in San Francisco office
