Job Description
The Data Engineer at Planet is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise ETL pipelines and data tooling using cloud technologies, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver insights and support decision-making within a dynamic space and data company.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build enterprise ETL pipelines and self-service data tooling using cloud technologies
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver solutions
- Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve data pipelines and architecture
- Create data visualizations, insights, and communication tools to support decision-making
- Participate in code reviews, provide technical feedback, and ensure data quality and accuracy
Requirements
- 4 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related fields
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Experience in Python and SQL
- Experience with building, maintaining, and debugging ETL pipelines
- Experience with maintaining peer-reviewed code and building CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud architectures and services, such as Google Cloud Platform preferred or AWS
- Familiarity with geospatial datasets and event-based data architectures
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across teams
- Good organizational skills and ability to execute multiple projects
